Children’s Community Library
Currently there is little or no reading culture in Uganda. This is due to many factors, the primary one being the lack of reading material in schools. Through the “1 Book 4 Africa” campaign, Nurture Africa ships thousands of books to Uganda each year. These books are used to stock Nurture Africa’s 3 libraries. These libraries are utilised by our 28 partner Primary Schools.
Last year we shipped an extra 8000 children’s books out to Uganda and built another children’s library in Mubende District as part of our “1book4africa” campaign.
Our target for 2012 is to provide literacy services to over 8000 children in Wakiso and Mubende Districts. We intend to ship out another 10,000 children’s books to Uganda in 2012.
